About

Do you know that we no longer have a library and information centre?

Do you know that we don’t offer English courses anymore?

Do you know that we’re not a funding agency?

So, what do we do?

British Council in Indonesia works across three major areas: Education, Entrepreneurship, and the Environment.

We work with partners –from Aceh to Bintuni and from Manado to Kupang– reaching million people across Indonesia. Our partners range from the Bandung Creative City Forum to bloggers community, from Islamic organisation to Ashoka Foundation, and from the Department of Education to the West Java Province.

We don’t do English teaching. Yet, we train English teachers through our Access English project.

We engage with more than 500 young entrepreneurs in the area of creative industries, environment, and education, helping grow community enterprises that brings wealth and jobs. We link them to UK and the global market through our International Young Creative Entrepreneur Awards and Creative Cities programme.

We trained over 1500 teachers from 600 schools and 1200 Indonesian judges. These does not include more than 1400 future leaders we sent to the UK through our Global Exchange project and Chevening scholarship.

Our connecting classrooms and eLanguages online-based programmes link 5000 students and teachers across the archipelago with the UK and Asia-Pacific.

We’re fighting global warming by engaging 70 young Climate Champions from the media, grass-root community, corporation, education, and government –future leaders who are making a difference to their
Environment and society.

We’re helping young people access world class education through our twice-yearly Education UK expo, then, connects them to the industry through our job fairs.

We’re 61 years in Indonesia this year. We’re committed for another 61 years into the future.
